Water Theory of Pre-Qin Dynasty:Research on Educational Wisdom of Ancient Thinkers in China

In the thoughts of the Pre-Qin Dynasty thinkers,water was an important thinking reliance upon which the thinkers clarified their thoughts. Using water to clarify humanity,compare morality,explain intellects,elucidate learning and describe education can be regarded as the main educational manifestation of the Water Theory. And the various characteristics of water,such as no competition in unfavorable situation,being adjustable to circumstance,being self-cleaning and capable of cleaning others,etc.,could be taken as the fundamental basis of Water Theory. The nimble and ingenuous methods of borrowing from water had demonstrated the unique educational wisdom of Pre-Qin Dynasty thinkers such as explaining truth by making use of the relative things,dealing with the complicated things with simple method,accomplishing a significant task with ease. To analyze and learn from Water Theory is of great beneficial for us to change the current educational research fields,the way of argumentation,the style of formulation,and that can be helpful for us to promote the localization process of educational research in China.
