唐代驿传体系发达,驿路通畅,通讯准确及时,这与唐代统治者重视驿传体系建设有关,但唐代驿传的背后也有许多不光明的东西。其驿传物资和钱财的获得方式除国家拨助外还有三条渠道：＂捉驿＂就是捉大户供奉驿馆所需;＂帖驿＂就是在驿馆驿马不足时由驿路两旁百姓用自己的私马补充驿站的临时需要;＂营驿＂则是驿馆通过放高利贷形式获取驿路两旁百姓的高额利息以供驿馆所需。三条渠道的获得方法均存在盘剥百姓情况。
