| Abstract: | This paper aims to explore the derivation process of middle construction,which is mainly discussed in terms of the transitivity and argument structure of the middle verb in the literature.After evaluating the problems of relevant explanations,this paper tries to give a tentative hypothesis: the middle verb undergoes a process of intransitivization,which makes the external argument suppressed and the internal argument promoted to the subject position. |
