The Application of Teachers' Politeness Strategies in the Classroom

This paper addresses teachers' politeness strategies based on the analyses of the teachers' verbal behavior in the classroom setting.Teachers' verbal behavior is seen as part of the classroom psychological environment and it is clearly linked to the creation and maintenance of a positive classroom climate which is essential in producing optimum learning.Furthermore, teachers' verbal behavior is an important contributor to learners' cognitive and affective outcomes.Therefore,it is the bottom line for the teachers to consider the problem of teaching language politeness in class.
