Abstract: | This article attempts to evaluate the educational policy for gender equality developed by the Greek Government in the last decade. The example used is that of the new reading books issued in 1983, which the Government presented as solving the problem of sexism apparent in previous readers. The article looks at the views of the academic establishment, women's organisations and teachers with respect to both old and new books and discusses the efficacy of the new books in the light of the results of a textual analysis. |
