Abstract:A handy and concise formula of latent heat of melting for metals are suggested by using free-electron model of melting and Virial Theorem. The theoretical results of latent heat of melting for 19 metals agree well with experimental values. Combining with Clapeyron equation the melting equation of metals has been proved to be the empirical Simon equation. From our method two parameters involed in Simon equation can be predicable. The initial slopes of melting curve have been calculated for 31 metals, and the theoretical results are well accorded with experimental ones. Relation between melting entropy and increment ratio of volume during fusion has been deduced. Finally, the formula of solidus curve of primary solid solution for alloys A1-XBX,based on Cu, Ag, Au, have been expressed and calculated for 24 alloys.Calculated results agree well with experiments.
