The Influence of Plague on the Peloponnesian War in Athens

The plague was an unexpected disaster for Athens in the Peloponnesian war.There are many works on the connection between the Athens plague and its finally failure in the war.And the conclusions are also very familiar,namely,the plague was a pushing actor for the lose of Athens.This article will demonstrate the correlation in three aspects:the influence that the plague brought to Athens battle,change that the plague made towards the war,and the influence the plague brought to the subsequent events.By analysis the Athens plague event,we can conclude that:the main factor that decided the result of the Peloponnesian war was the two sides’willing based on its comprehensive power,in the long run,the plague’s influence toward the Peloponnesian war’s development was very limited.
