在交际活动中,文化差异造成了人们表达礼貌语言的不同。因此,根据礼貌的各种准则及其它多方面,必须注意跨文化交际中英汉礼貌的差异,正确使用英语礼貌语言。

Politeness Usage in English and Politeness Difference between Chinese and English

Based on the ideas of Brown and Levinson, two famous English linguists, and the works of domestic authorities, this article discusses politeness usage in English in the ways of word, tense, aspect, voice and sentence. In social activities, however, cultural differences cause different politeness usages. For this reason, the author, according to some of the logic of politeness, made by some famous linguists, and many other ways, details the politeness difference between Chinese and English in the cross-cultural social interaction. Her purpose is to help English learners of China know about politeness usage in English and learn to use politeness language in English properly in English or American cultural society. She believes that if the research on politeness can be used in foreign language teaching, it will greatly improve the quality of teaching.
