The Historic Evolution and Reform of Teacher Education in South Africa

The system of teacher education in South Africa has its roots in the apartheid system. It took a long time for South Africa to germinate,develop gradually and consummate its teacher education. Especially,its government has been focusing on improving and consummating its teacher education policy system since South Africa rehabilitated its democratic system. Great changes and innovations had taken place to promote its teacher education forward during that time. The new government not only took many active measures to protect and push forward the development of its teacher education ,but also published all kinds of acts one after another,which have a profound and important influence on the development of its teacher education system.
