Hamlet is the greatest tragedy of Shakespeareg. The early 17th century found Hamlet a tragic hero;the 18th century a romantic hero par - excellence;the 19th century a tragic - romantic hero; and the 20th century an Oedipal figure. Hamlet is a man for all times, an idealist always curious to the unknown world, and a romantic hero who keeps questioning the meaning of life and wants to do the right thing. In this sense, Hamlet survives and the popularity of Hamlet survives, too.
