作为作者与其它研究者、读者之间的一种特殊交际工具,科技英语语篇的表达本该清楚、准确、客观。然而,其中也存在很多的模糊现象,模糊限制语就是典型的一种。研究从合作原则出发,从质、量、方式和关系四个方面分析了模糊限制语在科技英语中的语用功能。

Pragmatic Functions of Scientific English Hedges Based on the Cooperative Principle

As a special tool for communication between the authors and other researchers, readers, expressions of scientific discourse should be clear, accurate and objective. However, there are also many fuzzy phenomena, of which fuzzy hedges is typical. This paper, based on cooperative principle, analyses the pragmatic functions of Hedges in English for science and technology from the four aspects： quality, quantity, means and relationship.
