The selling of the cable TV compromise

Abstract:A fair bit has already been written about the broadcaster‐cablecaster “compromise” of late 1971 which led to the final issuance of cable television rules and regulations by the Federal Communications Commission early in 1972. On the following pages, Mr. Jassem explores events in the compromise and deliniates several key factors instrumental in the agreement being reached. The author, who taught last year at Trenton State College (New Jersey) is presently a teaching assistant while enrolled in the doctoral program at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.
