Enlightenment of Phonetic Awareness Forming to College English Teaching in Vocational Colleges

Abstract:The phonetic awareness could be defined as: the awareness of a speech sound by a person and its use, and the speech sound is formed with syllables, rhymes, alliteration, etc. The forming of phonetic awareness has the following functions to English learning: benefit to cognition and word spelling, benefit to reading and the enlargement of vocabulary, benefit to self-learning. The paper maintains that English teachers should attach importance to their own forming of phonetic awareness and guide students in this aspect as well.
