| Abstract: | The phonetic awareness could be defined as： the awareness of a speech sound by a person and its use, and the speech sound is formed with syllables, rhymes, alliteration, etc. The forming of phonetic awareness has the following functions to English learning： benefit to cognition and word spelling, benefit to reading and the enlargement of vocabulary, benefit to self-learning. The paper maintains that English teachers should attach importance to their own forming of phonetic awareness and guide students in this aspect as well. |
