从多元系统理论看杨译及霍译《红楼梦》的翻译策略

从佐哈尔的多元系统理论，来分析杨宪益夫妇及霍克斯翻译《红楼梦》时所选用的不同翻译策略——异化和归化的原因，可以发现：译者对汉语文化的认同、翻译目的、中国传统文化在英美文学系统中的位置、赞助商等诸多因素，会影响霍克斯和杨宪益夫妇对《红楼梦》翻译版本在英美文学系统中位置的确认。霍克斯将其定位在边缘位置，而杨宪益夫妇将其定位在中心位置。这种定位最后导致了霍克斯选择了归化的翻译策略，而杨究益夫妇选择了异化的翻译策略。

An Analysis of the Translation Strategies of the Two Versions of Hong Lou Meng: A Polysystem Theory Perspective

This thesis aims to analyze the two different translation strategies, one of which is foreignization adopted by Yang Xianyi and his wife and the other one domestication adopted by David Hawks, of the two versions of Hong Lou Meng from the perspective of polysystem theory. This thesis believes that different factors, including recognition of the Chinese culture, aim of the translation, position of Chinese culture in the Anglo - American cultural polysystem as well as sponsors of the two versions influence the recognition of the position of the translated versions of Hong Lou Meng in the Anglo - American cultural polysystem by the translators. After analyzing those factors, it concludes that David Hawks viewed the translated version as being on the edge of the Anglo - American cultural polysystem, therefore adopting thedomestication strategy; while Yang Xianyi and his wife viewed it as being in the center of the Anglo - American cultural polysystem, therefore adopting the foreignization strategy.
