从国际视角来看，近年来，职业网球在世界范围内得到了更加迅猛的发展，国际化、职业化、商业化的程度越来越高，作为舶来的以西方文化和价值取向为主导的职业网球运动，在我国成长与发展必定是一个充满挑战的过程。对中国特色职业网球进行了探索，中国特色职业网球发展要进行战略创新——与时俱进，科学把握项目的发展方向、训练创新——突破传统，构建职业训练新模式、机制创新——更新观念，构建优秀运动员培养新模式，包括树立职业网球与奥运目标求同共赢的价值理念，丰富手段；建立符合项目特点的新型管理模式；更加有效的发挥举国体制优势，建立符合项目特点的新型保障机制；按照总局领导“积极稳妥不失控”的指示要求，通过建立必要机制，努力实现对优秀运动员的有效管理；积极推进“大国家队”的建设。
