| Abstract: | Soul-searching" acquires the rich connotation in the system of Mencius ideology. Through multi-levelled theoretical implication of "soul - searching", the typical feature of Mencius ethical tendency is revealed. Both merits and demerits can be found in his ethical theory mainly on introspection, which can give references or inspirations to the present construction of morality. |
