周作人思想一以贯之的整体面貌为其文艺思想的研究提供了一个有价值的参照背景,因此我们不应将他的文艺思想作分时期的对立研究,去体察不同时期思想的变化；而主张将其不同时期的言行作为表象,发掘其表象底层的文艺思想结构及这种结构所体现的主体精神,这显然有助于对周作人文艺思想作出更准确的评价。

Modernity Pursuit in the Shadow of Traditional Culture——A Brief Review of the General Visage of Zhou Zuoren's Literary Thought

The holistic visage throughout Zhuo Zuoren's thought provides the research of his thought with a valuable background.To understand the change of his thought in different periods,We do not have to divide his literary thought into stages.Instead we advocate that we take his behaviors in different stages as representations to dig out the structure of his literary thought underlying the representations and the spirit of subject embodied by the structure,which will obviously be helpful for evaluating his literary thought.
