文化视角下的大学校训翻译管窥

摘    要:校训文本是个特殊而又广泛的题材,作为理念、原则和目标的集中体现,任一则校训大多都出之有典、有源,它同校名、校歌、校旗和校标等一起承担着外宣的急先锋.而对于担负文化交流和宣传任务的校训翻译,国内研究却显得相对不足.笔者以文化视角,从原语特征和文化蕴含上解读了国内外三所名校的校训及其译语后,发现译语在实现功能对等的同时,存在一定程度上的文化意象缺失.这对校训翻译实践有着积极的现实意义.

Abstract:As specific and common texts,university mottos are integrated to express notions,principles and objectives of universities.They act as pioneers in communication wither the names,flags and shields.However,civil researches on them are less.From a cultural perspective and focusing on the features of SL and their cultural meanings,this paper makes a comparison between three university mottos and holds that functional equivalences of TLTs are realized along with absences of cultural imaginaries of SLTs.
