| Abstract: | This paper is a contrastive study of Zhu Xi＇s philosophy of li or principle and Wang Yangming＇s philosophy of xin or mind.The author contends that the two philosophies are essentially different in their views of the nature of the universe,that Zhu Xi＇s belief in knowledge before action are in obvious conflict with Wang Yangming＇s idea of unity of knowledge and action,and that the philosophies also differ in ways of moral development. |
