Introductory Discoursal Approaches in Making Requests in Chinese Speech Acts

Making a request is prevalent in our daily life and is one of the hotly debated topics in the study of speech acts.It features not only a sentence,but also the discoursal information coding.To ensure the appropriateness and effectiveness of a discourse,the speech act of requests is usually made after some introductory utterances.This paper discusses this practice regarding its necessity,typology,implementation strategies and components in the light of speech act theory.
