Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894),a British short-story writer at the end of nineteenth century, was not famous in the British literature, but created the new model for the short-story writing of British literature. This paper analyzes his short stories from several aspects, seizes his three major principles, which are Stevenson's most successful and most innovatory narrative strategies, and also explores his narrative style and the strategies in his work.
