“斯文在兹”:从《论语》看孔子作为师者的文化使命

孔子一生作为师者的实践,其核心可以概括为学而不厌与诲人不倦。学而不厌乃是求得"斯文在兹",诲人不倦则是让孔子之后来者"与于斯文"。孔子一辈子在学与教之间不断转化,其中心就是传承斯文,也即赓续周代以来的礼乐文化传统。斯文之所以重要,不仅仅是作为个体生命意义的依据,更是承载着民族的根本价值。传承斯文不是固守斯文,而是"述而不作"与"温故知新"的统一,是人与文的互相转化。担当"斯文",乃是当代师者的文化使命。

The core of the practice of Confucius as a teacher in all his life can be summarized as insatiable learning but tireless teaching.Insatiable learning indicates retaining the ritual and music culture,whereas tireless teaching implies encouraging his disciples to carry forward the ritual and music culture.In all his life,Confucius unceasingly engaged in learning and teaching,and focused on inheriting the ritual and music culture since the Zhou Dynasty.The ritual and music culture was important not only because the meaning of an individual’s life was based on it,but also it carried the fundamental value of the Chinese nation.Inheriting the ritual and music culture means,instead of firmly sticking to it,the unification of spreading ancestors’doctrines without presumptuously creating thoughts and seeking development and creation while reviewing the classical culture,as well as the mutual transformation between people and culture.Now inheriting the classical culture reflects the cultural mission of contemporary teachers.
