Abstract:Thermodynamic assessment in the ternary systems ZrO_2-CeO_2-Y_2O_3,ZrO_2-CeO_2-Ce_2O_3 and the limiting binaries ZrO_2-Y_2O_3, ZrO_2-CeO_2,CeO_2-Y_2O_3, ZrO_2-Ce_2O_3, CeO_2-Ce_2O_3 as well as the modeling for oxides are reviewed comprehensively. Based on the recent estimations on the YO_ 1.5 -CeO_2, ZrO_2-CeO_2 and ZrO_2-YO_ 1.5 systems, isothermal sections at 1 273 and 1 973 K of the ternary CeO_2-ZrO_2-YO_ 1.5 system are calculated. In the system of ZrO_2-CeO_2-Ce_2O_3, the complex relation between the nonstoichiometry (y) in CeO_ 2-y , the composition of the ZrO_2-CeO_2 solid solution and the oxygen partial pressure (P_ O_2 ) for different ZrO_2 containing solid solu-tions Ce_zZr_ 1-z O_ 2-x are evaluated from 1 473 to 1 773 K. The relation between the degree of Ce 4 reduction to Ce 3 under different P_ O_2 in the fluorite CeO_ 2-y and Ce_ z Zr_ 1-z O_ 2-x solid solutions at different temperatures can be used as a guide in the development of functional ceramics.
