摘    要:高等函授教育是社会发展到一定历史阶段的产物。从世界范围来看,它经历了萌芽、形成、完善和提升四个阶段。就中国而言,一方面,相对于世界高等函授教育起步比较晚,另一方面,它走过的是一条曲折发展前进之路,即经历了初创、停办、恢复、发展、整顿、评估和磨合七个时期。高等函授教育作为一种特殊的教育形式,有其自身的发展特点,即教育原成就性、互动性、依托性、实用性和整体性。正是这些特质, 彰显和表现出了其巨大的优势和强大的生命力。

Abstract:The higher education by correspondence, occurred in a certain period of the social development, has been in the worldwide rane going through four stages of germination, formation, perfection and promotion. In China it came into being later than it did in the western countries and has been passing the zigzag course of development consisting in seven steps of initiation, interruption, renewal, prosperity, adjustment, evaluation and integration. The higher education by correspondence, as a special form of education, has features of its own, i. e. fruitfulness, interactivity, dependency, practicality and wholeness with which it brings forth its great advantage and strong vitality.
