Abstract: | On the occasion of the 120th anniversary of its establishment, Peking University Library formulated the Peking University Library 2019-2022 Action Platform aiming at the vision of 2035. Over the past years, Peking University Library has firmly established the basic concept of "user-oriented, service first", adhered to the important principles of "consolidating the foundation, adapting to changing conditions, transforming services, realizing comprehensive reform, and setting a leading example and benchmark", continued to improve collection building and information service system, and steadily promoted the modernization of the library governance system and governance capacity, innovatively drove the transformation and development of the library modernization. It has created a new situation with a more solid foundation for development, more effective new services, deeper comprehensive reforms, and a more prominent leading role, and basically established a world level comprehensive, innovative, intelligent, benchmarking academic library. In order to share experience with library counterparts, the paper summarizes Peking University Library's performance and its user utility since the implementation of the Action Platform from four aspects: strengthening the foundation, service innovation, human- oriented reform, and setting a pioneering role. The first aspect focuses on some basic services such as facilitated collection building, the comprehensive professional development of the librarian team, the intelligent upgrade of service facilities, and the multidimensional expansion of user relationships. The second aspect explores the improvement of traditional services and the expansion of innovative services such as educational services, collaborative services, computing services, and data services. The third aspect elaborates on the human-oriented management and reform efforts of the library, including strategic planning, establishing rules and regulations, human resource management, etc. These reforms aim to improve the library's governance capabilities. The fourth aspect highlights the social responsibilities of Peking University Library, which include carrying out theoretical research on the modernization of libraries to provide guidance for academic libraries, leveraging the advantages of CALIS and CASHL to promote the resource sharing, undertaking the significant national tasks and leading the overall development of academic librarianship, and establishing multi-channel cooperation with domestic and foreign libraries to jointly promote the development of global librarianship. 4 refs. © 2023, Editorial Office of Journal of Library Science in China.
