| Abstract: | Lignans constitute a group of phytochemicals widely distributed in the human diet. Once ingested, most dietary lig- hans arc metabolized by the gut microflora into enterolactone and entcrodiol. Together with isoflavones and coumestrol, enterolignans have been traditionally classified as phytoestrogens. Lignans＇ categories and research history are introduced, the recent research progress on lignan＇ s functional activity is elaborated emphatically, and the research trend of lignan is proposed in this paper. |
