“旅游”和“导游”应该是相伴相生的，因而中国的导游史也可以追溯到三皇五帝、夏商周时期。唐宋时代，旅游成为时尚，“导游”的服务功能逐渐凸现。明代是中国旅游史上的又一高峰期，清代随着闭关锁国政策的打破，旅游空间有了进一步拓展，包括导游在内的旅游服务更趋完备。
