Physiological studies of the brain: Implications for science teaching
Authors:William K Esler
Abstract:Physiological changes resulting from repeated, long-term stimulation have been observed in the brains of both humans and laboratory animals. It may be speculated that these changes are related to short-term and long-term memory processes. A physiologically based model for memory processing (PBMMP) can serve to explain the interrelations of various areas of the brain as they process new stimuli and recall past events. The model can also serve to explain many current principles of learning theory and serve as a foundation for developing new theories of learning based upon the physiology of the brain.
