稷下沉浮及其学术自由的价值

稷下学宫独创了官方兴办、私家主持的办学形式,集讲学、著述为一体,采用自由游学和自由听讲的教学方式,尊重优待知识分子,是中国较早尝试学术自由的高等教育学府,但齐国最终没能实现霸业,“齐国亡而稷下终”的命运让人深思。

Ups and Downs of the Jixia Academy and Its Value of Academic Freedom

Founded by the government but managed by individuals, the Jixia Academy created the original form of running a school, integrating teaching and writing, where the teaching method of either traveling to studying or attending a lecture was used, and intellectuals were given special treatment. The Jixia Academy, therefore, was the first college for higher education trying academic freedom, but the Qi State didn't realize its rulership and "the Jixia Academy was gone with perishment of the Qi State", which is worth thinking deeply.
