Maomin is famous for its petrolum industry in South China. It's both neces- sary and possible to built 300-thousand -ton ethylene plant in Maomin. With the setting up of 300-thousand-ton ethylene plant and the building of Sansui-Maomin railway and Shuidong new harbour, Maomin will become an important growth po- le in western Guangdong. It will also play an important role in the porcess of pro- sperous southern coastal areas to bring along the backward south-western China.
