Daily Newspaper Market Structure,Concentration, and Competition |
| |
Abstract: | This study examines newspaper competition on a national level using the umbrella model and the county as the geographic market. Although daily newspaper markets showed higher concentration and lower competition than other U.S. industries, these markets were less concentrated and had a greater potential for competition in 1983 and 1988 than suggested by previous studies using cities as the geographic market. The levels of competition and concentration remained steady between 1983 and 1988. |
