王用臣及其《斯陶说林》

晚清文言小说摘编《斯陶说林》 ,深泽 (今属河北 )人王用臣所撰。王用臣出身于一个缙绅仕宦之家 ,有深厚的家学渊源。其家藏书颇丰 ,这些都为《斯陶说林》的编定打下了基础。全书共十二卷 ,五十万字左右 ,其中所择书目 ,有书名的超过一百六十种 ,不少书今已佚失。书中所选作品 ,谐谑之作最多 ,质量亦属上乘。这些作品以妙趣横生的语言 ,或趣 ,或讽 ,或寓 ,或智 ,格调幽默 ,具有特殊的审美效果。另一类野史轶事类作品亦颇具特色 ,其中尤以“闺秀”卷中的作品为佳 ,塑造了一系列女性形象 ,较为全面地反映了封建社会的女性风貌。

Wang Yong Chen and His Book--Si Tao Shuo Lin
