DU Ya-quan's Idea bout Saving the Nation through Education and his Achievement

Du Ya quan was one of those pioneers in modern times of China,who dedicated himself to the service of his country by advocating and practising his idea about saving the nation through education.He regarded education as the fundamental to saving the nation and becoming stronger,and as an effective way to promote the social progress,having devoted all his life to the spread and popularization of modern scientific knowledge.He had strived by every means to bring up a new type of nationals with sound consciousness and solid accomplishment,by setting up schools,supervizing the publication of magazines,writing scholarly works,etc..For the sake of improving education,he had also advanced a plan for reforming the educational system,in which there contained helpful and instructive discussions in the fields of the modern educational structrues and their functions.
