Mathematics and the Mechanization of Human Mental Work

Mathematics plays peculiar role in human mental work. It constitutes the common base of other scientific subjects, and mathematization is getting more and more a characteristic tendency in the development of modern science and technology. Mechanization of mathematics, therefore,is of great significance to the mechanization of the mental wok in general. It has been a human dream for a long time to materialize the mechanization of the mental wok by means of the mechanization of mathematics. This paper discusses the origins of the mechanization of mathematics and tries to reconstruct its historical development.
