清朝末年 ,中国曾先后出现过几次图书翻译高潮 ,依次为 :鸦片战争时期为禁烟知夷而组织的译书 ;洋务新政时期为制器强兵而引发的译书 ;维新运动时期为变法强制而引发的译书 ;维新失败之后为开智新民而涌起的译书。翻译的内容虽各有侧重 ,但却从一个侧面展示了中华民族不屈不挠、追求真知的精神与探寻救亡强国之路的艰难历程。
