本文是对在整理翁方纲四库提要稿中发现《薠川集》提要前后矛盾的现象进行考察,旨在找出矛盾现象产生的原因及其背后隐藏的事实,竞发现此集之存废牵涉甚广,翁方纲有意隐瞒事实,想要保存文献,以及其它参与者发现此事后的谨慎作法,由此引起的种种奇特的行为以见清代文字狱的恶劣。

Prissiness and Chutzpa: Literati Behavior under Pressure

This paper attempts to investigate the contradictory phenomenon of Collection of Fan Chuan which was discovered while combing Weng Fang,gang's the synopsis of Complete Collection in Four Treasuries,with the purpose of finding the causes for this contradictory phenomenon.To the writer's surprise,he found that there was a controversy about whether it should be kept or not.Weng Fanggang intended to conceal the fact in order to keep the documents.Other participants were very cautious after they knew the fact.All their behaviors were the sign of the evil of literary inquisition in Qing Dynasty.
