恩格斯曾是资本家吗？

长期以来，人们对恩格斯经商活动的性质一直模糊不清，有人认为他曾是资本家。事实上，恩格斯在三次经商活动中只是“商业实习生”、“经营管理”和“高级职员”，而不是资本家。对于“恩格斯曾是资本家”的说法做出否定性的实证判断，除具有学术意义外，还有助于我们认识当前社会阶级结构的新变化，正确区分资本的所有和使用、资本家和经理人员；有助于我们在认识不放弃剥削生活的资产阶级分子能否加入共产党这一问题时作出正确选择。

Had Engles Ever Been a Capitalist?

For a long time,people have not been clear about the nature of Engles's business activities.Some poeple believe that Engles had once been a capitalist.But,as a matter of fact,Engles had never been a capitalist.In his three business activities,he had only been a trainee,a managing administrator and a high rank office worker. There is enough evidence to show that Engles had never been a capitalist.Saying no to the question is not only of academic significance,it can also help us to understand better the new change in the structure of the present social classes; distinguish rightly between owners of capital and users of capital,between capitalists and managers;and choose a correct answer to the question whether or not those bourgeois elements who refuse to give up living as exploiters can join the communist Party.
