| Abstract: | Being named as one of ＂the three painters of Shanghai style＂ in the last years of Qing Dynasty,Xu Gu created his Flower-Bird Paintings with a combination of art features： sharp in contrasting, unique in visual angle, odd in structuring, traditional in drawing, impressive in shape and modern in construction style. Those paintings embody an artistic conception of intangible freedom and peaceful harmony which are quite outstanding from contemporary painters. Thus he is deemed as a great master of painting for that time being. |
