近代外人对华投资高等教育的概况及作用

除教会大学以外,近代中国,还有不少外人以个人、集团或政府的名义,对华投资兴办高等教育。这些学校包括在华外人独资大学、中外合办大学和外国大学的中国分校,也包括设在国外的中外合办大学和专为培养中国学生而设立的外国高校。外人对华投资高等教育虽然有着各自不同的目的,但这些教育机构的兴办在客观上为中国培养了一批社会急需的高级人才,对中国高等教育的发展、中外文化教育交流的扩大都起到了一定的作用。

On the overview and influence of foreign investment on higher education for Chinese in modern times

There were many higher institutes which were contributed by foreign individuals,groups or government for Chinese in modern times,besides the Missionary Universities.These schools included owned universities invested by foreigners who lived in China,Chinese and foreign joint universities and branch campuses of foreign universities.The others were set up abroad,including Chinese and foreign joint universities and foreign universities set up special for educating Chinese etc.Although each foreign investment on higher education for Chinese has its own purpose,the higher institutes they contributing to cultivated many urgently needed talents for China objectively,and they made some contributions to both developing Chinese higher education,and strengthening cultural and educational exchanges between China and foreign countries.
