Towards the Kinfolk Institution and the Organizational Structure of Society of the Salars in History

The article, according to the theory of kinfolk institution and the data gathered from on-the-spot investigations in sociology of nationalities, as well as to an interview with the family of an old man called Hanremzam, who live in Unity Village, Jiezi Township,Xionghua Salar Autonomous County, is to give an account of changes in the kinfolk institution of the Salars. In history, the mother's brother rights institution, forms of "Aghine"("brothers") and "Kumsan" ("relatives"), as well as "Qon" ("township") of the Salar community, are all the froms of the kinfolk institution and the formal or informal social organization which used to exist in the Salar community. The article discusses the effect the mother's brother rights institution exerts on the Salar groups, and the role such informal forms of organization as "Aghine" and"Kumsan" play in history in the Salar groups, especially the impact these informal forms have on the Salar groups, and meanwhile deals with the form of social organization"Qon" of the Salars in history.
