| Abstract: | This article provides a brief overview of the characteristics of catalog systems as well as the development of Western language material cataloging in Chinese libraries. On the basis of historical overview and analysis, the authors discuss the impact of AACR2 on Chinese libraries and conclude that the Western language material cataloging in Chinese libraries belongs in the Anglo-American system. It is also suggested that a positive attitude should be taken by Chinese librarians on the research and development of AACR2 to suit the Chinese situation in order to achieve a good advanced step. |
