| Abstract: | This paper discusses the creation of the National Clearinghouse on Aging within the federal government and the involvement of the Clearinghouse in the planning and initial implementation of a proposed Service Center for Aging Information (SCAN). This automated, bibliographic information system and its proposed products and services are described. The differing user groups and information needs involved with gerontological research and the provision of social services to the elderly are also discussed. |
