五四科学思潮述评

五四时期,宣传科学形成一股显要的社会思潮.这既是爱国主义的进步思潮,又是反封建、倡民主的启蒙思潮.它不但为我国科技事业的建立与发展打下了重要基础,而且推动了中国社会的政治、经济、教育、文化、学术等广泛领域走向现代化.与此同时,它又是一种有着严重局限的片面性思潮.它片面强调科学救国,但在旧中国,科学救不了国;它具有浓厚的科学主义色彩;另外还有影响范围有限,对科学研究提倡不够等诸多缺陷与不足.

Commentary on Scientific Ideological Trend During the May 4th Movement

During the May 4th Movement,disseminating science became a conspicuous social ideological trend.It was not only an advanced ideological trend of patriotism,but also an enlightening trend of anti-feudalism and advocating democracy;it not only laid important foundations for establishing and developing scientific causes in our country,but also boosted the modernization in wide fields of Chinese society,such as politics,economy,education,culture,academy,etc.However it was also a one-sided ideological trend with severe limitations.It unilaterally emphasized saving the nation by science could not save the nation;it was deeply colorized by scientism;its influences was limited for it had defects or insufficiencies such as failing to fully advocating scientific research,etc.
