| 摘 要： | 美国英语是英语在美洲大陆形成的一种区域性变体,在17世纪英国英语的基础上发展而来的.古词语的应用是美国英语的奇特现象之一.从社会语言学角度分析美国英语古词语使用的原因,主要是:大规模移民、地域隔绝、同一性和社会态度.

| Abstract: | American English is a regional variety which is shaped in North America on the basis of British English of 17th century. So the writers of the paper perform a sociolinguistic analysis of the application of archaisms in American English. The paper concludes that the geographical isolation, immigration, solidarity and social attitude toward language are the major factors. |
