“舅姑”称谓论略

中国称谓文化复杂多变。“舅姑”本称“母之兄弟”、“父之姐妹”,但古代又用来称公婆。中国最古老的婚俗——表亲婚是导致舅姑称公婆的最主要原因。这种称谓在书面语出现之前就存在于人类的口语中。由于政治、法律、宗族、习俗的影响强化了这种婚俗,导致中国历史上“舅姑称公婆”的巩固。“舅姑称公婆”还有姑嫜（章）、姑蚣（忪、锺）、姑翁（公）的异称。与此相关,“舅姑”还用来称“岳父母”。

Chinese title culture is complex and changeable."Maternal uncle and paternal aunt"means"brothers of mother"and"sisters of father";however,in ancient China,it was used to address parents-in-law.This calling maternal uncle and paternal annt pavents-in-law was mainly caused by cousin marriage,the most ancient Chinese marriage custom,and existed in the spoken lan-guage of human beings'before the appearance of the written language.Cousin marriage was strength-ened by the influence of politics,law,religion and customs in the Chinese history,and this resulted in the consolidation of calling maternal uncle and paternal aunt parents-in-law.Calling maternal uncle and paternal aunt parents-in-law also have some different names,such as paternal aunt and father-in-law,paternal aunt and old man.With this correlation,maternal uncle and paternal aunt is also used to call wife's parents.
