廖世承创办国立师范学院的因由及其经过

20世纪30年代，日寇的入侵给中华民族带来了空前的危机，战场上的失利更加暴露了我国基础教育质量的低下，政府和教育界在发展高等师范教育问题上取得了共识。廖世承以其深厚的学养、显著的业绩以及对教育事业的热忱被任命为筹备国立师范学院的主任委员，后又被任命为院长，在艰苦的条件下创办起国立师范学院。

The Cause and Process of Founding National Teachers College by Mr. Liao Shi-cheng

In 1930s, Japanese aggression imposed great crisis on the Chinese people and China suffered several defeats in some battles against the aggressors, which was partly due to the poor quality of basic education in China. Therefore, the Chinese government and education authorities came to an agreement that higher teacher education should be developed in China. In that case, a preparatory committee was established for founding the National Teachers College. Mr. Liao Shi-cheng, who was a scholar with professional knowledge and outstanding work in and great enthusiasm for educational cause was appointed first as chairman of the committee and then dean of the National Teachers College and he underwent a lots of hardship in the course of the establishment of the school.
