| 摘 要： | 严复对民主的看法前后发生了很大的变化，本从道德角度对此作一分析，指出严复在进化伦理的基础上接受了西方的自由民主政治，并因此走上了改良的道路，但在西方思想和中国现实状况的影响下，他对传统与道德的关系又极为重视，认为失去了传统，道德也将失去有效的基础。这种态度最终使他回归传统，放弃了自由民主政治的追求。

| Abstract: | There were some changes in YAN fu's late idea of democracy. The article tends to analyze his diea and the change in the sight of ethic.And it suggests Yan Fu's supporting liberalism and democratic politics is based on evolution ethic,which led him to the road of reformism.But he went back to tradition at last and gave up the pursuit of democratic politics in China under the influence of the Western idea and China's real situation, which made him attach importance to the connection between ethic and tradition. |
