秀山花灯是土家族、苗族、汉族等民族和谐共生互存的历史“百科全书”。它是一种集歌、舞、戏、吹打乐、琴弦乐和民间纸扎工艺以及民俗礼仪内容为一体的综合艺术，跳花灯舞蹈是其重要的组成部分，经历了从“跳团团”、“门斗转”（男围女），到“二人转”的漫长过程。“跳团团”是跳花灯得以形成的原始基因，也是跳花灯的原始形态，具有丰富的文化内涵。
