While Jia Ping'ao narrates in other fictions to show his suspicion on the modernity, he exaggerates in The Days of Wolf Hunting his nostalgia of the tradition so as to convert his esthetic mode. The Days of Wolf Hunting zooms on a legendary tale of hunting wolves, to describe the complicated mental frustrations of the grass roots over the social transformation in relation to the heteronomous deprivation and survival crisis.
