Writing with a Telling Purpose

The School Curriculum Development Committee launched a three-year National Writing Project in September 1985 and about 25 local education authorities took part. The project was a teacher-led and classroom-based investigation of children's writing development. Chris Morris, coordinator, National Writing Project in Dudley, and Helen Edwards, teacher at Sutton School, Dudley describe the way the project was developed with pupils with moderate learning difficulties.
